World Chase Tag® has always aimed to bring the excitement of the sport to every place on earth. Central to this vision is the Quad™, the iconic arena that defines the game. Yet, for many regions, the lack of access to a Quad™ has been a barrier to growth. Recognizing this, we launched a new initiative in Q4 2024 to empower partners in underrepresented regions with the option to self-build their Quads.

This self-build option marks a significant step forward in democratizing access to the sport. After meeting specific requirements and securing approval from WCT headquarters, selected partners can take charge of constructing their own Quad. This collaborative process ensures that the highest standards are maintained while offering flexibility to adapt to local conditions.

The Process: From Application to Approval

1. Application & Approval: Interested organizations must apply for the self-build option through WCT HQ. Each application is carefully reviewed to assess the potential partner’s commitment, resources, and alignment with WCT’s goals.

2.Planning and Negotiations: Once approved, the process moves into the planning phase. WCT helps partners navigate administrative and logistical considerations. This includes drafting contracts and negotiating with suppliers to secure materials at the best possible rates.

3.Construction: With resources in place, the partner begins constructing the Quad. Throughout the process, WCT provides guidance and ensures compliance with specifications. Partners must engage an approved WCT builder for the final on-site inspection to guarantee the structure meets official standards.

4.Certification: Once the inspection is passed, the Quad becomes certified for official WCT use, opening the doors to hosting competitions, training sessions, and community events.

Success Stories

This initiative has already seen success in diverse regions:

  • Run-Up in Rotterdam, Netherlands: Known in the WCT world as Rooftop Kings, this team embraced the self-build option to create a Quad™ that serves as a hub for their community, bringing the second Quad in the Neterlands.
  • Movement is Magic in Hyderabad, India: As one of the first partners to utilize this new process, this gym’s self-built Quad has sparked a surge of interest in the sport locally, connecting athletes from across India to the global WCT community.
  • Coming Soon: USA Partner: A new partner in the USA is currently in the final stages of building their Quad, further expanding the reach of WCT.

What This Means for the Future of WCT

The self-build initiative represents a bold step toward making World Chase Tag® accessible to more athletes and fans worldwide. By reducing barriers to entry and fostering local ownership, we are cultivating a vibrant, global network of players, coaches, and fans. These Quads aren’t just structures; they’re symbols of community, collaboration, and the boundless energy of the sport.

To celebrate the success of this initiative, we sat down with two trailblazers who brought their Quads to life:

Redouan, Owner, Run-Up (Rooftop Kings), Netherlands

1. What inspired you to take on the self-build option, and how has it impacted your local community?

2. Were there any unexpected challenges during the building process, and how did you overcome them?

3. How has the new Quad influenced your team’s training and competition performance?

Sharan, Owner, Movement is Magic, Hyderabad, India

1. What motivated you to bring World Chase Tag to Hyderabad, and how has the reception been so far?

"Our motivation was simple. As a movement space and one of the few parkour gyms in India, we felt the time was right to introduce WCT and the sport to a country that loves moving. While the education curve will be challenging, as an academy run by passionate founders, this is a challenge that we relish and are happy to be the 1st.".

2. Can you share any tips for other partners considering the self-build option?

"All you need is a DIY attitude. Be ready for long hours and build frustrations and shifting goalposts in terms of your build-time estimates. If you are not hands-on or if you are not familiar with using tools, or if you have the capital for it, go in for the factory built quad, it will save you time."

3. How do you see the Quad shaping the future of Chase Tag in India?

"As a niche sport still blossoming, we foresee similar challenges faced by WCT in getting to where they are today. That being said, as a highly competitive and populous nation, we expect Chase Tag to boom if the competition and the format are tweaked towards the Indian sentiment and we are committed to spearheading this cause. The goal is to get an Indian team up on the podium at the earliest and eventually become regular winners and a force to be reckoned with."
